Steve Allen (1921-2000) was interviewed for six hours (in two sessions) for the Achive of American Television in Burbank, CA. Mr. Allen described his transition from radio into television, working with writing team Madelyn Pugh and Bob Carroll on his prime-time radio show, The Steve Allen Show , and his first television appearance in 1949 as a wrestling announcer for ABC in Los Angeles. He fondly recalled hosting a multitude of Steve Allen Shows for television, and the classic Tonight with Steve Allen , as well as the creation and hosting of PBS' Meeting of Minds .
