The 43rd Academy Awards held at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on Thursday, April 15, 1971, honoring movies released in 1970. The Awards presentation and hosting duties were handled by 34 "Friends of Oscar." Best Picture winner "Patton" also won Academy Awards for Best Actor, Art Direction-Set Decoration, Directing, Film Editing, Sound, and Writing -- Story and Screenplay based on factual material or material not previously published or produced.
