The Oscars

The 50th Academy Awards hosted by Bob Hope at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on Monday, April 3, 1978, honoring movies released in 1977. The telecast attracted the largest television audience for any Oscar show to date and marked Hope's final appearance as host. Star Wars won six competitive awards and received a Special Achievement Award, the highest number of the ceremony.
