The 59th Academy Awards co-hosted by Chevy Chase, Goldie Hawn and Paul Hogan at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on Monday, March 30, 1987, honoring movies released in 1986. Marlee Matlin won for Best Actress for her debut role in "Children of a Lesser God." Oliver Stone was nominated for three awards, as director and screenwriter of "Platoon" and as screenwriter (with Richard Boyle) of "Salvador." "Platoon" won Academy Awards for Best Picture, Directing, Film Editing, and Sound.
