The Oscars

The 61st Academy Awards held at the Shrine Civic Auditorium on Wednesday, March 29, 1989, honoring movies released in 1988. Pixar and John Lasseter won their first Oscar, receiving the award for Animated Short Film. Lucille Ball attended the show, and it turned out to be her last public appearance; she died less than a month later on April 26, 1989.
