This is another acquisition from the Thin Man, the first guitar I have ever collected just to collect it. It was probably made by Kay, and if so, would represent just about the earliest example around of that companies art. It has a log-like neck but a wonderfull tone because it has a bookmatched 2-piece carved spruce top and solid maple sides and back. The action is good. It has an ebony fingerboard and the trapeze tailpiece, rosewood bridge and the genuine tortoise shell pickguard and binding are all original, as are the tuners. The peg head is elaborately hand painted in gold leaf. Here is a closer view.
