This is another bargain off eBay. I bought it because the price was so low and it IS a Martin, after all. Not surprisingly, this is a very nice guitar, made entirely out of mahogany with no ornamentation except for the gold foil embossed "CFMartin" ensignia at the top of the peg head. The face is the same mahogany as the body, with a gold band decal around the sound hole. Here is the back - same story here, folks, nothing but mahogany... not that it matters of course, because the tone and projection of this guitar is excellent. I play it sometimes in bluegrass jams.
I have only owned one other Martin - many years ago (1970) I traded an old Gibson 330 for a Martin D-18. It was from the fifties, I think. An old, beat up guitar with a shaved neck - threatening to come apart because of "unauthorized" repairs that had been done to it over the years. I played the hell out of that instrument for about four years - it was the only guitar I owned during my youthfull "singer/songwriter days" in Berkeley.
